Townsville Surrounds Map QLD

Townsville, Ayr and Charters Towers have played important roles in the economy and history of Queensland, but have retained their charm. Off the coast, the Great Barrier Reef (Northern Section) can be explored by snorkelling, diving and cruises.

The Gold towns of Charters Towers and Ravensbrook as well as Townsville still have many of their heritage buildings, built from the wealth of the earlier gold rush days.

Magnetic Island

Just to the north of Townsville is Magnetic Island, which can be easily accessed by ferry. See more about the Capricorn Coast and the Great Barrier Reef.

Further along the Queensland coast, north of Townsville to Cairns and beyond is a region of stunning natural beauty, encompassing two World Heritage areas, the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics. Capricorn Coast and the Cairns and Far North Queensland.
