Things to Do
Things to Do at Tathra include fishing, kayaking and boating, not only the on ocean but the many nearby lakes. Learning to Scuba Dive and Surfing are also popular activities here. At Merimbula Airport, there are scenic flights available.
Taking a cruise during the months of September to the end of November means you can spot whales on their migration. Dolphins can be seen year round.
Tathra Wharf
Just to the south of Tathra Beach is the historical Tathra Wharf (seen in the photo) with the beach in the distance. Tathra Wharf, built in 1902 is known for its fishing, boating and scuba diving.
You can visit the Maritime Museum at Tathra Wharf, it has displays and exhibits relating to the history of the local area and the ships that plied these waters.
The Town of Tathra
The town is located on the coast about 17kms east of Eden and is divided into the old section, built from the 1860s on and the new, located along the beach. It served for many years till the advent of cars and trucks as a major South Coast port for the steamers that used to ply the waters of the South Coast to Sydney and Melbourne.
Located just to the north of the beach is the Mimosa Rocks National Park and the seaside town of Bermagui.

The Sapphire Coast National Parks can provide plenty of opportunities for fun filled discovery. Majestic mountain ranges with grand views. The rugged coastline interspersed with long idyllic beaches. Cool wet rainforests. If you can, take a cruise to Montague Island Nature Reserve.
