Batemans Bay Places

Places in and around Batemans Bay include picturesque beaches, stunning national parks and historical towns. As a major tourist destination on the coast of NSW south of Sydney, there are great places to eat, especially fresh seafood while sampling some of the fine wines produced in the region.

Those who love nature will love the parks and state forest reserves here. Murramarang National Park and Meroo NP has nice beaches to sun yourself and swim, Gulaga NP has more than 46 sq. kms to explore, other nearby parks and reserves include Moreton NP, Mungo NP and Budawant NP.

Places to Eat

Batemans Bay is famous for its Clyde River Oysters, there is a growing collection of restaurants and eateries near the harbour where you can sample them yourself.

Ways to explore these parts, take a river cruise to Nelligen, go fishing or hire a cruise charter boat.

Things to do include Mogo Zoo, Birdland Animal Park, a few rounds of golf at the 18 hole championship golf course or for the whole family, mini-golf. Tennis and bowling are also popular here.

A walk, just at the north end of Murramarang Park, is dedicated to the Aboriginals that inhabited this region prior to European settlement. It takes you past signposted sites that are known to be more than 12,000 years old. Birdland Animal Park has over 8 acres of natural gardens and features native marsupials and birds.

Mogo Town

Nearby Mogo Town is an old gold mining town, you can still prospect for gold yourself there at the Mogo Goldfields Park. The whole town has been restored to re-create what life was like in the early gold rush days.

Mogo Zoo specialises in taking care of and breeding rare and endangered species. In town, there are plenty of chances for shopping in the speciality shops and has a grand café culture to help.
