Getting Around Brisbane Australia

There are three main transport options available in Brisbane besides car rentals and taxis. Ferries, bus and train routes are conveniently located to get you around the city quickly and easily.

City Sights

Taking a City Sights Tour is a convienent way to see the tourist attractions in Brisbane and points of interest. These buses can take you to places such as Parliament House, Museum of Brisbane, the Casino, Chinatown and the Cultural Centre.

There is also a whole lot more to see the at the South Bank, just across the Brisbane river from the Brisbane CBD, also on the City Sights Tour. The Mt. Coot-Tha Lookout offers grand views of the city.

Brisbane Buses

Buses have peak bus routes during the busy times, if you have a pre paid ticket you can use the CityGlider and route P88 buses.

You can buy tickets for bus services at the busier train stations and busway stops, or you can purchase tickets on normal bus services .

There are also late night bus services available and special transport arranged for major events.

Trains

Train services normally link up with bus services to get you around the city. Moreover,it can take you as far as the Sunshine Coast, with its country towns, stunning beaches and scenery. You can also journey South to the Gold Coast.

Using train services: Train station, if you the holder of a Go Card, just touch your card to the card reader. If you have a pre-purchased ticket, show it to the station master or ticket officer. You can also buy tickets at the station.

Ferries

One of the most interesting ways to explore the city is to take the City Hopper Ferry, which can take you from the foot of the city at North Quay, stopping at South Bank and the Maritime Museum on the other side.

The next stop up the river ends up in the city again at Eagle Street. It then proceeds to stops in the suburbs of Kangaroo Point and New Farm, before returning.
