Snowy Scheme Museum

The Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme was a ten year project that involved tens of thousands of workers, many from other parts of the world. The museum has maps, photos and artefacts about the many people, the design and construction of this massive work. There is even heavy equipment that was used as part of the collection.

Sulphide Street Railway and Historical Museum

There are actually four museums at this location, the Migrant Museum, Hospital Museum, Ron Carter Transport Pavilion, as well as the Triple Chance Mineral Collection. Also on exhibit is the Silver City Comet and other classic steam locomotives with carriages.

Trial Bay Gaol

Trial Bay Gaol, set in the beautiful Arakoon National Park was originally built to house prisoners sentenced to hard labour, but ended being used to ’house’ people of German descent during WWI. The scenery alone is worth a visit, but the historic ruins and museum illustrates well how life was for the inmates.
