Just a short trip across the harbour, either by the coathanger, the term the locals use for their bridge, or travel with one of the many Sydney Ferries brings you to the north shore.

    Taronga Zoo

    Taronga Zoo, in the harbourside suburb of Mosman is regarded as one of the world’s most spectacular Zoos. It has Australia’s largest collection of exotic species and a large selection of native fauna. With magnificent views of the city and Sydney Harbour, it makes a for a great day out.

    Northern Beaches

    Manly Beach Sydney, with its famed surf beach and Norfolk Pine lined promenade has a totally different ambience to the rest of Sydney. Whether strolling along the Corso, browsing in the shops or enjoying a relaxing swim at either the ocean surf or harbour beaches, Manly is an ideal holiday destination with easy access from the city via ferry and jetcat over beautiful Sydney Harbour.

    Further North

    Crossing the bridge and taking the Pacific Highway takes us to Ku-ring-gai Chase and Brisbane Waters National Parks on the beautiful Hawkesbury River. This pristine Australian bushland has rare treats for the visitor.

    The Central Coast and Hunter Valley are another two of the close by Sydney treasures. The Hunter Valley for its wine growing regions and great cuisine, the Central Coast for its charm and beauty.

    Harbour Cruise

    Those with time to spend may wish to hire a houseboat on the Pittwater or a secluded house for a few days of deserved relaxation.

    Others passing through to more northern destinations should take a river cruise and discover the beauty of the secluded fiords and inlets.

    Australian Wine - The Hunter Valley

    Wine lovers should not travel north without visiting the internationally acclaimed Hunter Valley. This district produces some of Australia’s finest wines.

    It is the country’s oldest wine producing area and has a history dating back 150 years. With over fifty wineries spread over and area bounded roughly by the towns of Wollombi, Cessnock and Pokolbin - there is sure to be a few you like. See Hunter Valley Wine Region.
