Just inland from Port Macquarie on the north coast of NSW, Wauchope is a historic timber town and located in the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia region, a World Heritage Listed Area.
The town is good for travellers and those wanting to explore the region’s natural surrounds and those interested in the food, shopping and restaurants that Wauchope offers.
You will be able to enjoy the surrounds of Wauchope, nearby is the Bago Bluff National Park and Broken Bago State Forest, both within easy access. Other nearby national parks are the Werrikimbe and the Willi Willi.
This beautiful and wild park has numerous walks of varying difficulty. With Eucalypt forests of tall trees and waterfalls, mountains and deep gorges. There is abundant birdlife throughout the park.Werrikimbe National Park, a rugged wilderness of outstanding beauty spread with short and long walks. Willi Willi National Park is a rainforest mountain park with three beautiful walking tracks that follow the river and lead to a sparkling waterfall.
The rainforests that cover the mountainous Willi Willi National Park. Take one of the Wilson river walks that take you to the waterfall. There are picnic areas along the way, some with BBQ facilities.
There are hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, caravan parks, backpackers, holiday parks, cabins and farmstays available for accommodation in the region. There are also places to camp available at some of the National Parks as well, many with facilities, others isolated.
