Shoalhaven
Shoalhaven runs southward down the coastline from the outskirts of Kiama to Batemans Bay and westward to the Southern Highlands. This largely undeveloped region encompasses a number of significant forested National Parks set alongside the Pacific Ocean. They offer pristine bays, surf beaches, lagoons and lakes that make you feel your seeing Australia as Captain Cook first did.
There are others, in the hinterlands, you can explore mountains, rain forested gullies, see native animals and birds in their habitat. Eurobodalla
This 130kms stretch of coastline begins at Batemans Bay, strategically located on the Princes Highway and the Kings Highway. From here, it is only 2 hours drive west to Capital Country, Canberra and the ACT. Batemans Bay becomes alive on weekends, popular with weekend visitors from Canberra and Sydneysiders alike.
Further South, Mogo and Moruya have become artisan and artists townships while Broulee, on the coast has a number of protected beaches for families as well as surf beaches.
Montegue Island, just off the coast from Narooma is a protected reserve for sea birds and marine life. The picturesque towns of Central Tilba and Tilba Tilba have been Heritage Listed, you’ll wish you brought the camera if you managed to leave it behind.
Diving is another popular activity in Eurobodalla and along the South Coast. Shipwrecks, marine life and protected marine parks offer unique diving experiences. Sea Cruise Charters are available, as are dolphin and whale cruises.
Sapphire Coast
Extending from Eurobodalla in the North of the Sapphire Coast to the Victorian border, this south east corner of NSW is even more pristine and wild, emphasized by the coastal National Parks of Bournda and Ben Boyd, with Nadgee Nature Reserve covering the rest of the coasline to the border. Bega is the commercial centre, famous for its cheeses and dairy products, while places in Eurobodalla like Tathra, Pambula Beach, Mollymook Beach, Merimbula and Eden are well set up for visitors.
