Glebe

Glebe in Sydney Australia has become popular not only with backpackers and uni students but with just about everyone else for its restaurants, pubs and proximity to the city centre and Darling Harbour. Sydney university, the University of Technology Sydney and the Sydney Technical College are all located nearby so it is popular with tertiary students as well.

You will find a good collection of restaurants, cafés and eateries here, mainly located along Glebe Point Rd but not limited there, as they fan out along adjoining streets. Pubs here are interesting and varied, dating back to the earlier days of Sydney.

Inner City Suburb

The suburb of Glebe dates back to the beginnings of the colony of NSW, as Glebe was the original land grant given to the Anglican Church by Governor Governor Arthur Phillip (see History of Sydney).

Many of the homes and landmarks reflect the diversity and the changing fortunes of the suburb through the years. A popular place to live in the early days of the city due to its close proximity till trains allowed people to live much further away.
