Opening in 1982, the National Gallery of Australia has aquired over 100,000 works of art, not only of famed Australian artists but from ancient indigenous inhabitants of Australia as well as a number of well known creations from around the world.
There are sculptures, as well as oil paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Photos collections, Aboriginal and Torres Strait artworks and a children’s gallery complete the works on display.
The galleriy also provides tours of the collection highlights, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and of course, Australian art. Phone the contact number for more information.
