Murramarang Beach

South Coast Map NSW

Murramarang Beach, located just south of Bawley Point, NSW is one of the 100 beaches to be found in the Shoalhaven region. Just offshore is Brush Island, a nature reserve and ancient Aboriginal sacred site, while the waters offshore are protected by the Batemans Marine Park.

Murramarang Aboriginal Walking Track

The Murramarang Aboriginal Walking Track that runs along the beach here is one of the many Aboriginal experiences that are available in the Shoalhaven. Booderee National Park, located just to the north on the coast is managed by Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community and Parks Australia. It also has pristine white sand beaches, such as those found at Jervis Bay

Other experiences available here are the Galamban Extraordinary Aboriginal Experiences, run during school holidays to learn about the culture, foods and stories of the local Aboriginals that live here still, descendents of the traditional owners of the land. Murramarang National Park

Beautiful Murramarang Beach in the National Park is located near Batemans Bay in the Shoalhaven of South New South Wales. The park and its sandy beaches often has native animals that can be seen early in the mornings or late afternoon.

Brush Island

Brush Island, located just some 350 metres from Murramarang Point is an important seabird breeding ground. There are also seals to be found here and the little penguins also use this as a breeding place. Hence, it is strictly off limits, however, there are guided tours available. Other birds that are known to breed here include the short-tailed shearwater, wedge-tailed shearwater and the sooty oystercatcher.
