In the background of Hobart, Tasmania is Mt. Wellington, rising to a height of some 1,271 metres above sea level. At the top is a lookout where you can see spectacular views of the city below and the Derwent River estuary.
Organ Pipes
Near the top of the mountain, there are the Organ Pipes, a naturally formed volcanic feature of long dolomite structures.
The top of the mountain can also be covered by snow, even in summer (June, July, August) it is advisable to bring warm clothing if going to the top, the winds there can be quite cold.
