Bridge Road, Melbourne Australia

In the suburb of Richmond, Melbourne Victoria, Bridge Road has been called Little Saigon for its many Vietnamese restaurants and Asian food speciality shops.

Other nationalities are establishing restaurants, cafés and eateries here now as well, a phenomenon that seems to be gathering pace in any Melbourne street that has trams.

Still, Melbourne loves its diversity in foods, so the more, the better. You will find Richmond has a collection of interesting pubs and bars as well.

Historical Photo of Richmond, Victoria

One of the earliest pubs in Richmond, the building occupied then by the Admiral Napier (Cnr Punt and Bridge Roads) is seen in both photos on the right. As you can see, the building is still there, but the pace of the street has picked up somewhat. Note the old mail box, lamp post and ghostly image in the older photo.

Getting to Richmond is easy, trains service both West Richmond and North Richmond, while trams that travel Bridge Road are 48 and 75 from Flinders street in the city. See a map showing Richmond Melbourne City Map.
