Bright coloured wooden shacks line the bayside beaches at Dromana, there is a tourist office there with information about all the beachside resorts, places to see and things to do on the Mornington Peninsula.

Sorrento and Portsea are two trendy coastal towns that sit on the oceanside of the peninsula. Swim between the flags for a safer swim, as the ocean beaches can get rough.
An Australian Prime Minister, Harold Holt, though known as a strong swimmer, disappeared here in 1967.

There are numerous restaurants in the area, the towns of Sorrento and Portsea offer great cuisine. Street cafe’s offer fresh Australian as well as international fare, made from local produce.
There are quite a few hotels to choose from, from the budget to 5 star. Private apartments are also a great way to stay in the region and of course there are plenty of motels, bed and breakfast and hostels. Many of these have excellent ocean views.
