Malabar Beach and its Golden Sands

Malabar Beach and its Golden Sands

Next: Beach at Maroubra

Malabar Beach, Sydney South East

Having all the qualities of a beautiful Sydney Australia beach, Malabar has a park to enjoy picnics. Some two hundred metres of gentle sloping golden curve of sand, it attracts younger families on weekdays as well as weekends.

A lifeguard watchtower helps protect swimmers on patrolled days.

Located just south of Maroubra Beach, Malabar Beach is protected from northerly swells that can produce big surf on other Sydney beaches. Southerly swells can produce a surf break off the north side rocks. On most days there are only smaller waves, if any.

The beach is at the end of a long bay, literally called ’Long Bay’. One should be aware that not far offshore from the beach is deep water.

Sunny Day Activity

Still, it provides a peaceful break from the more crowded and popular surf beaches. Being located close to Sydney Airport as is Maroubra, it can provide a pleasant sunny day activity for those staying at or near the airport.

There is also a rock pool, which allows (usually) sheltered swimming. Also good for the little ones.

Fishing is another activity here, there are places on the surrounding rocks where people go to catch what they can. A boat ramp is also available.

Safety on the Beach

Take note of any safety signs at the beach. Talk to the lifeguard on duty if you have any further concerns.
