Manly has long been considered Sydney’s Seaside Resort. Only a short ferry ride from Circular Quay at the foot of the city center, the journey takes you past spectacular views of the beautiful harbour and Sydney. A trip to Manly is a great day out for the family.
Sydney Ferries and the Manly Fast Ferry are the most scenic and enjoyable ways to get to the northern beach suburb of Manly from the city. The cheapest would be the bus service. The ferries arrive at Manly Pier on a regular basis.
Set at the foot of the Sydney Northern Beaches on the harbour, Manly has a number of them offering a wide range of activities.
There are secluded beaches for picnics and bbq’s with little or no surf and with surf beaches along the promenade.
You can take surf lessons, go bike riding or rollerblading, swim and bodysurf amongst the many other activities available.
Great for the kids and the whole family, visit the Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary, complete with fish, sharks and rays in beautifully arranged aquariums. Those keen on an adrenaline rush, try the Shark Dive Xtreme!
Or maybe just buy yourself some piping hot fish and chips from Manly Corso, stroll to the Ocean Beach and enjoy the views. On a clear day on the Ocean Beach Promenade, you can see headlands stretching all the way to the north horizon with North Head framing the south.
You will find Manly Art Gallery just to the west of the Pier where the ferries and Jetcats arrive from Sydney. There are numerous buses that operate from the wharf area that will take you to the other Sydney Northern Beaches, all quieter than Manly Beach. See more about Manly Beach - Sydney Seaside Resort.
