Melbourne Museum - Landmark

One of the newer museums of Melbourne, having opened in 2001, the building’s modern design marks it as a Melbourne landmark. Located next to the elegant Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens, it has six floors of exhibits, many of them interactive.

There are displays on natural history, with an interesting collection of Australian dinosaurs as well as the evolution of man, displays on science, technology, the environment and much more.

Many Australians are aware of the Melbourne Museum has an exhibit containing the horse, Phar Lap, one of the great racing horses of all time. Now you do too.

The Imax theatre is also housed in the building, with a screen 7 stories high. Which makes everything larger than life, wonderful for seeing movies that have dramatic hollywood effects, as well as natural science documentaries on space and our earth.
