Robe, about 374kms from Adelaide, is a popular getaway, particularly on weekends. There are a number of historic buildings there and the coast on both sides of Robe are known for their beauty.

Visit Mt. Gambier, the remains of a long extinct volcano and the Blue Lake. In fact there are four lakes, with the Blue Lake changing from a dull gray to brilliant blue in summer and back again at the end. There are Limestone Caves that you can explore beneath the city.

Coonawarra, near Penola is a famed wine growing area, particularly their reds. But there is also the Mount Benson, near Robe, as well as Padthaway, Mount Gambier, and Wrattonbully, all with claims to fame for their wines.
