Famous wineries and great food, beautiful surrounding countryside of the Riverina region and plenty of things to do make Griffith a place to visit in the south central of the state of NSW. Banjo Paterson hails from here, as does Walter Griffin, who laid the foundations for the design of the city of Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory, as well as Griffith itself and the town of Leeton.

With a strong Italian heritage, wineries here include De Bortoli, McWilliam’s and Calabria Family Wines as well as the Yellowtail wines from Casella. Visiting one or more of the cellar doors here is well recommended if you love wines.

The historical Heritage Protected town of Narrandera has a number of attractions. There is also a track that takes in the sights of the area, including the Murrumbidgee River and Lake Talbot.

Places to Visit

Experiences to enjoy during your visit here include the Fivebough Wetlands, the Shear Outback, Hay Gaol and the Big Guitar.

Big Guitar

The Big Guitar is exactly that: Big. Built to promote the Narranderra’s Country Music Club, the length is almost six metres and height, two metres. You can try and play it if you can, failing that, take some pictures. Located at the Narrandera Visitor Information Centre, Cadell Street (Newell Hwy).

Cocoparra National Park

Within the park there are numerous walking tracks to various points of interest in the park. Along the way, your sure to spot wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies and emus. In the spring, the place blooms with wildflowers. More about the Cocoparra National Park.
